My Entangled Journey

Summer 2016: Online Module Program Design

At the outset of Summer 2016, I had a very vague idea of what a program designer was, let alone a good idea of how to be one! However, what I was lacking in module design skill, I made up for in experience with Entangled Learning. I am a self-proclaimed veteran Entangled Learner, though my Superior Hartwell Learning Coaching Certification proving my abilities as a coach and this personal narrative website dedicated to articulating my knowledge gain in over four practices more that demonstrate my continually evolving knowledge of EL. Despite this, I was still responsible for gaining the tools to understand effective module design. This became a large part of my learning design, especially in the initial phases of this new practice.

My goal of determining the best program to use in the design of the modules made up one component of my learning design. The other key component included identifying “the best way to create modules that are easy to understand without compromising the depth of the information.”

These components are important to me because they will help me to leave my mark on Entangled Learning. Just as Sarah created the Learner’s Guide over a year ago, I want Molly and me to have some kind of lasting impact on Entangled Learning at Clemson. Maybe this is a selfish goal, but Entangled Learning has had such a huge impact on me that I want to reciprocate by leaving something behind that hundreds (thousands even, maybe) of eager students, curious instructors, and self-motivated individuals can access and use to learn more about the world and about themselves. So please enjoy Module 1, and don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have comments, suggestions, or questions!
